Our primary goal at FINISHING TOUCHES is to provide our original designs of old world quality pine furniture at affordable prices. Each piece is of original design and benchmade with attention to detail. Quality, built from select varieties of Western Canadian pine by our master craftsman and made in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Wood was a living substance, and it continues "breath", no matter how old it is, therefore, it is important to keep your furniture at an even temperature with stable humidity. Dry air is the worst enemy of your furniture pieces. Scott's Liquid Gold wood cleaner and preservative (sold at most grocers) will help keep proper care of your furniture and we have found that this product will not create a white waxy build up that most other polishes leave behind.

Our "antiquing" distressing of the wood is a multi-stage process, using various paints and stains, each stage is done individually by hand therefore some variances will occur.

It’s these unique characteristics created during the finishing process that gives each individually hand crafted piece its own distinct features. Therefore there will be a slight variance in color of paint and shades of stain. Each piece is different and unique in its own way and it is finished to achieve an aged or antiqued look and will have some imperfections in the wood, we like that because it helps us to attain the aged look we are after.

Painted pieces are subject to "bleeding knots" (discoloured knots) more apparent in the lighter colored paints and stains.

Due to the laminated nature of the solid pine used, Stain Colors will vary throughout an individual piece creating various shades of the stain applied.

Low sheen clear lacquer may be applied to stained, painted or distressed finishes, to seal the material and provide color enhancement.
